Lagaan 2 is a bold sequel to the classic Lagaan (2001) – which made history in Indian cinema when it was nominated for the Best Foreign Language Film at the Oscars.
This time, the story is no longer set in 19th-century Champaner, but continues in another village in 1918 India, a time before the independence movement reached its peak.
A group of young farmers, led by Amar (Aamir Khan) – the spiritual son of Bhuvan – are faced with a life-or-death sport, when the British army organizes a cricket tournament that will decide the fate of the whole region.

The trailer opens with frames of sun-burnt fields, where the bare feet of farmers walk across the dry soil. The drums pound, Aamir Khan’s voiceover rings out:
“If they take our land with sticks… we will take it back with balls and cricket bats.”
The gruelling drills, the determined gazes, the slow-motion spins – interspersed with images of the British soldiers mockingly – create an epic, emotional and fierce atmosphere.
