The magic of Kumandra is returning stronger than ever. Disney has officially announced Raya and the Last Dragon: Legends Reborn (2025), the long-awaited sequel to the 2021 hit that captured hearts with its breathtaking animation and Southeast Asian-inspired storytelling.
Set several years after the first film, Legends Reborn continues Raya’s journey as the newly united lands of Kumandra face an ancient threat once thought lost to time. Peace has reigned since the last battle with the Druun, but whispers of a new darkness rising from the shadows of Fang begin to spread. Once again, Raya must reunite with her dragon companion Sisu — and a new generation of dragon spirits — to protect the fragile harmony she fought so hard to restore.
Visually, Legends Reborn pushes the boundaries of animation, blending vibrant mythic landscapes with a cinematic realism that rivals live-action epics. Returning directors Don Hall and Carlos López Estrada promise a story that dives deeper into themes of trust, legacy, and unity — the emotional heart of Kumandra’s legend. Kelly Marie Tran reprises her role as the fearless Raya, alongside Awkwafina as the ever-charming Sisu, whose humor and wisdom once again steal the show.
