“Akhanda 2: Thaandavam” – Resurrecting the resonance of angels and fierce battles
Overview
Akhanda 2: Thaandavam is the official sequel to the blockbuster Akhanda (2021), directed by Boyapati Srinu, continuing the epic journey with star Nandamuri Balakrishna in the lead role. The film is produced by Raam Achanta and Gopichand Achanta under the banner 14 Reels Plus and is fronted by M. Tejaswini Nandamuri.
This is the fourth collaboration between Boyapati—Nandamuri after the successes of Simha, Legend, and Akhanda, to bring a more epic experience, with a pan-India release.
Cast and Crew
Nandamuri Balakrishna reprises his role as Akhanda Rudra Sikandar Ghora, in a powerful and haunting image.
Other lead actors include Samyuktha Menon and Aadhi Pinisetty, in the villainous role. Many sources also predict the participation of Vidya Balan or Emraan Hashmi, but it is not yet officially confirmed.
Music composed by Thaman S, is epic and profound. Cinematography by Ram Prasad and Santosh D. Detake, and editing by Tammiraju.
Teaser & Main Trailer
The official teaser was released on June 9, 2025, before Balakrishna’s birthday. The teaser is about 1 minute and 17 seconds long, quickly gained an incredible number of views and caused controversy on social media with the typical “mass entertainer” style of Boyapati. In it, Balakrishna appears in the avatar of Shiva, full of power, arrogance and destructive power.
The Times of India
The epic action scenes were shot in the Himalayas and Georgia (Europe) giving a mythical and vivid atmosphere. The fact that the film was shot in Georgia at the end confirms the huge production intensity of the film.
Review:
The teaser “stands out” with its warm dialogues and impressive visuals like “Shiva’s brain… even Yama has to bow down”.
Reactions on social media range from positive to harsh criticism, making the teaser a remarkable phenomenon.
Plot and Narrative
The film’s setting offers a combination of epic action and spiritual emotions inspired by mythological legends – with the theme of fighting to protect traditions and sacred values such as temples. In the teaser, Balakrishna is seen riding his trident (Trishul) in the snow-capped Himalayas.

Expectations and Expectations
Release date: 25th September 2025 on the occasion of Dussehra – considered as a “festive film gift”.
The production budget is rumored to be up to ~200 crore rupees – about 4 times the previous part. Although not officially confirmed by the producer.
Box office competition: may coincide with Pawan Kalyan’s OG film – promises to be a big battle during Dussehra.
